Healthy Heart Society (HHS) was incorporated in early 2000 under the Society Act of BC. Its mission was to measurably decrease morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular disease in British Columbia.
HHS worked with others to build the capacity of communities to implement evidence-based disease management and prevention programs. This was done through strategic partnerships with both the private and public sector.
A decision was made by its Board of Directors that Healthy Heart Society would cease daily operations and transfer three of its initiatives – Patient Voices Network, Heart Manual, and For My Health! – to Impact BC. Impact BC was a program of HHS which began in spring 2008 and was fully funded by the Ministry of Health Services. Impact BC was incorporated as a non-profit society in early 2009.
